| Place of origin:
Northwest of Argentina, province of Jujuy.
Description: The species, presents long
axonomorfic root and have globular stem of 7 cm. high and
5 cm. wide.
The ribs are approximately 14, with prominent and little separated
tubercles by cross-sectional furrows. Towards apex they present
the base somewhat circular and are a little hexagonal.
The areolas next to apex are a little sunken and present 6
radial, acute, rigid and projected towards the outside spines
of 1.5 cm. long. There is an only central spine of 2 cm. long.
All are dark reddish or brownish black.
The flowers present variable tones between yellow and orange
and measure about 2.5 cm. long and the same wide.
Growing tips: Because of its big root, the
species likes deep pots. Requires well drained, porous soil.
Propagation is made by seeds.
