Brazil, state of Minas Gerais.
Description: When the plant is young presents
globose stem, but it becomes cylindrical with age, with about
50 cm. of high and 10 cm. wide. It is of reddish green or
green color.
The ribs, tuberous, are up to 40 at the moment of full maturity.
The tubercles are bigger than 8 mm., and are divided by cross-sectional
furrows.
The spines can be 2 or 3, all pointed downwards, but the upper
one which is short.
The flowers are of clear yellow color.
Growing tips: The species requires heat
and humidity in the atmosphere. Propagation is made by seeds. |
