Bolivia, department of Chuquisaca.
Description: The plant presents axonomorfic
root and dark stems of variable color between green and violet.
They are about 2 cm. high and about 3 cm. wide.
The ribs are arranged in spiral, in adult specimens they are
16 and present squashed tubercles of about 0.5 cm. long.
The areolas are white, a little felted, long and thin.
Spines are 11, only radial, black, pointed downwards, of 1
or 2 mm. long, squashed or folded against epidermis.
The flowers are of violet pink with the white base.
Advice of culture: Requires porous well
drained soil, preferably with more gravel content. Needs full
sun and rigorous winter rest. It is recommended to surround
the neck of the plant with coarse gravel to avoid the excess
of humidity in this zone. Propagation is made by rooting offsets. |
