Parodia procera

Parodia

At the end of the 80', the International Organization for the study of Succulent Plants, worked in a project of reorganization for the genus of the Cactaceae family. As a result of this project the genus Notocactus was included within Parodia, although at the moment there is much opposition to this change. The genus is original of South America and it is distributed mainly in the northwest of Argentina and Bolivia. The name is after Lorenzo Raimundo Parodi (1895-1966), Argentine botanist.
Most of the plants cultivated from seeds, bloom 2 or 3 years after the germination took place.
