Mexico, states of Nayarit, Sonora and Baja California.
Description: The stems are bluish green
and can reach about 12 m. high and 1 m. wide near the base.
The ribs are prominent and between 10 and 16.
The areolas are big, oval, they are very close together, and
they have short, grayish brown color, wool.
The spines are strong and heavy, they are 20, reddish or dark
brown color, but the can be gray in older specimens. Spines
are between 2 and 3 cm. long, but 1 or 3 of them, centrals,
are a little bit longer and stronger.
The flowers measure between 7 and 8 cm. long and are white.
Growing tips: The species does not tolerate
cold. Adult specimens require full sun, whereas younger ones
need partial shade. Propagation is made by seeds, since rooting
cuttings is generally difficult. |
