North of Argentina and Southeast of Bolivia.
Description: The plant is formed by groups
of columnar green stems, which measure between 6 and 9 cm.
wide and about 1 m. high.
The ribs are between 15 and 25.
The areolas are big, oval, they are provided with abundant
white or gray color wool, and are distanced about 2 cm. to
each other.
The radial spines measure between 1.5 and 2 cm. and appear
in number of 7. The central spines are between 1 and 3 and
bigger than radials. All are reddish first, becoming something
white as the plant grows.
The flowers are of pink or carmine color and measure about
4 cm. long.
Growing tips: It requires full sun. The
plant resists cold very well as long as it is dry. Propagation
is made by seeds or cuttings. |
