This genus has only one representative from the state of Tamaulipas,
Mexico. It is related with Ariocarpus. The name was given by the czech
botanist Alberto Fric in tribute to Alvaro Obregon, president of Mexico,
country of residence of Fric in 1920.
Propagation is made only by seeds.
