| Place of origin:
Mexico, from the state of San Luis Potosi to the state of
Oaxaca.
Description: The plant presents globular
aspect when young, but it becomes cylindrical with age. It
can be found lightly clumped. The stem is green and measures
about 12 cm. high and 8 cm. wide.
The tubercles are about 6 mm. They have have conical shape
and their bases have white wool, which is very dense in apex
and in the points of new growings.
Areolas are round, small and felted.
The radial spines are between 20 and 30. They are white, thin,
sharp and about 7 mm. long. The central spines are between
4 and 6, They are between 7 and 15 mm. long, but the inferior
which is about 30 mm.
All are rigid, sharp and its color varies from clear yellow
to dark yellow, with the brownish tip.
The flowers appear in apex as a crown and measure about 1
cm. They are pink or reddish.
The fruits are oval and red.
Growing tips: This plant grows better with
partial shade on summer.
Propagation is made by seeds or by rooting basal offsets. |
