Mammillaria candida
Scheidweiler

Place of origin: Mexico, state of San Luis Potosi.

Description: The plant is globular at first, but it becomes cylindrical with age, measuring between 10 and 14 cm. wide. It has a depressed apex and older specimens can be found slightly clumped on the base.
The tubercles are close to each other. They are cylindrical, prominent and hairs appear from its base.
Radial spines can be 40 or more. They are white and have almost 1 cm. long. They are intercrossed with each other hiding the stem almost completely. The central spines are between 8 and 12. They are white with the brown extremity and are between 4 and 7 mm. long.
The flowers are of white color with the central part pink. They are 2 cm. long and 1.5 cm. wide. They appear in form of crown between the spines around apex.

Growing tips: The species grows better with partial shade on summer. Propagation is made by seeds or by rooting offsets from clumped specimens.
