| Place of origin:
North of Mexico, from the state of Coahuila to the state of
San Luis Potosi.
Description: The stem is extended, of between
15 and 20 cm. long and 5 or 6 cm. wide. The plant grows solitary
at first, but it sends offsets as it gets older.
The tubercles, which have a woolly base, are arranged in spiral.
They are conical or cylindrical and they are very close together.
The areolas present numerous spines and are woolly when the
plant is young.
The radial spines ar. They are thin, rigid and white. The
central spines are between 2 and 4. They are of white color
in its base and brownish in most of his length.
The flowers are red, they measure 1.5 cm. long.
There is a variety called flavispina with a yellow central
spine.
Advice of culture: Propagation is made by
rooting basal offsets. |
