Central and northern Mexico.
Description: The plant presents globular
stem, of dark or clear green color, of about 4 or 5 cm. wide.
It can be found very clumped.
The tubercles have conical shape, are thin and extended. Their
base has fine hairs.
The radial spines are formed by white silky hairs, they can
be up to 30 and measure up to 2 cm. There is only one central
spine generally, but older specimens can show up to 3. There
are brownish yellow or brown. At least one of them is have
the tip like a hook and with a length of between 5 and 8 mm.
The flowers are small, of yellow cream color with a medium
reddish strip which confers a pink aspect to the flower. They
are about 17 mm. long and about 12 mm. wide and they are plenty.
The fruits are elongated and red.
Growing tips: Like with the other species
with hair, it is recommended not to wet the body of the plant
when watering. It resist cold well as long as it is dry. It
requires full sun. Propagation is made by seeds or by rooting
basal offsets. |
