| Place of origin:
Argentina, provinces of La Rioja and San Juan.
Description: This is a species with numerous
varieties. It has oval stem of about 4 cm. high and 3 cm.
wide. It can be solitary or clumped.
The ribs are between 18 and 24, little prominent, and with
areolas very close to each other.
The spines are short, numerous, whitish, and cover the whole
stem intercrossing with each other.
The flowers are generally between 3 and 4 cm., appear in the
upper part of the stem and present woolly tube. The color
varies from cream to red with intermediate tonalities.
Advice of culture: This plant does not support
frost and needs some shade on summer. Propagation is made
by seeds or by rooting offsets from clumped specimens. |
