Lobivia aurea

Place of origin: Argentina, province of Cordoba.

Description: Small plant of globular stem of dark green color. It grows up to 10 cm. high and between 4 and 6 cm. wide. It can be found usually densely clumped.
The ribs, of acute edge, are 14 or 15.
The radial spines are generally 10, they are directed outwards. They are white and about 1 cm. long. The centrals are heavy, between 1 and 4, about 3 cm. long and of brown color with the yellow extremity.
The flowers, that appear laterally from the center of the stem, measure about 10 cm. and are of yellow color. The floral tube is slightly curved. It is greenish white color and presents pale green scales, red in the base and with black and white hairs.
The species is very variable.

Growing tips: Requires full sun and vary well drained soil. Propagation is made by cuttings or by rooting offsets.
