Argentina, province of Cordoba.
Description: The species, very variable,
can be found very clumped with stems of about 3.5 cm. high
and 6 cm. wide.
The ribs are generally 12, prominent and are little divided
in tubercles.
Areolas are oval, felted and are very close to each other
.
Radial spines are opened, of white color with its base brown,
silky and thin. They are arranged in number of between 10
and 15, they are about 0.5 cm. long and are doubled inwards.
Central spines usually are absent, although they can be between
1 and 3, of dark color and straight.
The flowers measure between 3 and 5 cm. and are funnel shaped,
being quite thin. The petals are pink and have a central dark
strip.
Growing tips: Multiplication is best by
rooting offsets since seeds can give very variable results. |
