Ferocactus
There are about 30 species of Ferocactus from the southwest of the
United States and the northwest of Mexico. The plants are globular
when young, but they become columnar with age. Most of the species
are solitary, although some can be found clumped like Ferocactus robustus
or Ferocactus glaucescens.
Flowers are pink, yellow, red or purple depending on the species.
They tolerate cold and intense heat well. They require full sun, little
water and a well drained porous soil.
Propagation is made by seeds.
