Description: The species shows globular
stem when the plant is young, although it becomes columnar
with age, reaching the 3 m. high and 30 cm. wide.
The ribs are about 24 and are tuberculated.
Areolas are big, elliptical, felted on the apex and naked
on the base.
Radial spines are about 5, thin, white and up to 4 cm. long.
Central spines are between 7 and 13, red, big and acute. They
are all conical but the superior, which is flattened, and
the inferior, a little cylindrical and hooked sometimes.
The flowers are about 4 cm. long, they are yellow, and petals
have a central brown red band.
The fruit is yellow and oblong.
Growing tips: It requires full sun and porous,
well drained soil. Propagation is made by seeds.
