United States. Southwest of Texas and South of New Mexico.
Description: The stem is cylindrical, up
to 18 cm. high and about 6 cm. wide. It can be found clumped
with basal offsets.
The tubercles are arranged in spiral, they are bigger than
6 mm, have rhomboid base and they go upwards in oblique form.
The radial spines are between 5 and 15 mm. long. They are
white of white color and between 20 and 30. The central spines
are between 5 and 9, a little heavy and long. They are brown
color or with the blackish tip.
The flowers are lilac by the outside and clear rose by the
inside. They are about 2.5 cm. high.
The species is very variable and numerous varieties exist
that.
Growing tips: It does not support intense
colds. It is propagated by rooting basal offsets. |
