Bolivia, department of Santa Cruz.
Description: The stem is shining green and
has globular shape although it becomes slightly cylindrical
as the plant grows, reaching 10 cm. high and 9 cm. wide. It
can grow solitary or densely clumped by the emission of abundant
basal offsets.
The ribs are between 12 and 15, at first they are smooth and
with the edge acute. They become tubercular as the plant grows.
Radial spines are 8 or 9 and measure less than 1 cm. Central
spine is a little bit long.
All are grayish and thicken on the base.
The flowers are white and the fruits, oval shaped, dark green.
Growing tips: Propagation by seeds or by
planting rooted offsets from clumped specimens. |
