United States. Mexico, State of New Mexico, northern
Mexico.
Description: Globular plant, with very wide
stem, up to 30 cm. wide and of 15 high.
The ribs are wide, prominent and are between 13 and 27.
The areolas are big, felted and there are between 2 and 6
by rib.
Spines are flattened, radial, and reddish or yellowish. They
can be between 6 and 7 and between 1 and 4 cm. long. There
is just one central spine, flattened and directed downwards,
it can be up 6 cm. long.
The flowers, that last 4 days, are scented, wide and bell
shaped. They are approximately 6 cm. long, scarlet and orange
in the lower part, and pink or white in the center.
The fruit is globular and reddish.
