| Place of origin:
North and center of Mexico. States of Durango, Coahuila and
Zacatecas.
Description: The plant shows green, spherical
stem when the plant is young, although it turns columnar as
the plant grows.
It can appear clumped and between 8 and 10 cm wide.
The tubercles are close together, they are bigger than 2 cm.
and are arranged on 13 generally irregular spirals.
The areolas are very woolly when young bat become naked later.
Radial spines are between 11 and 14, they are big, of yellowish
color but with the extreme black.
There is only one heavy, conical, central spine. It is of
brown color and about 1 or 2 cm. long.
The flowers are of variable color between clear and white
yellow and about 3 cm. long.
Growing tips: Propagation is made by seed
or by rooting basal offsets from the clumping specimens. Requires
porous, well drained soil. |
