Central Mexico, states of Hidalgo and Queretaro.
Description: The stem is about 20 cm. high
and 7 cm. wide. This plant sends basal sprouts.
The tubercles are longer than 2 cm. and are conical. They
are crossed by a superior furrow in which they are 1 or 2
glands of red color.
The areolas on the apex are very woolly, although with time
they become almost naked.
The number of radial spines is between 6 and 9, they are 1
or 1.5 cm. long and are of brown color.
This species can show a central yellow spine, a little more
longer than the others.
The flowers are about 5 cm. and have the external petals of
pale brown color and the internal ones of clear yellow color. |
