Cereus
There are about 40 species of Cereus in the Caribbean and South
America, although the exact number varies according to authors.
They are generally high, columnar and very easy to grow. Species
from the Caribbean or the equatorial parts of South America, often
require certain winter heat.
Flowers are generally big, have funnel form and white colored. The
fruit is red or yellow, generally eatable and the seeds are black.
Propagation is made by cuttings, although growing from seeds is
easy.
