North of Peru, western mountains, near Bellavista.
Description: Arborescent plant that forms
a heavy trunk and can reach up to 5 or 10 m. high, depending
on the environmental humidity. It ramifies with raised articles.
The ribs are between 7 and 8, they are wide on the base and
have prominent tubercles on the edges.
The areolas are arranged in the furrows that delimit the tubercles.
They are felted and white colored, although with time they
become grayish. They are naked when young, but soon 5 or 6
flexible spines of approximately 1 cm. long are developed
from them. They are arranged in a circular pattern and with
a central spine directed downwards.
The flower size is between 5 and 6 cm., they are slightly
scented, and the petals curved outwards. They are of greenish
white color.
