| Place of origin:
North of Mexico, state of Coahuila.
Description: Like all the representatives
of the genera, this species has a heavy axonomorfic root,
with almost invisible stem, since the ribs are replaced by
long tubercles that form a flattened globular structure. The
tubercles are gray colored although sometimes they appear
pale green colored and flat; the upper part is hard with small
whitish grudges or of reddish brown color. In the extremity
of each tubercle a small areola is arranged. Initially it
shows some wool, but it disappear with time. The base of the
plant has white wool, which is mor visible and notorious in
the apex. This conformation allows the plant to merge with
its natural surroundings. The flowers appear in the armpits
of tubercles next to the center, they have between 4 and 5
cm. wide and are of white or pink color. |
